Consolidated Medical Travel is seeking a travel nurse RN Pediatrics ER - Emergency Room for a travel nursing job in Bakersfield, California. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Pediatrics ER - Emergency Room Discipline: RN Start Date: 07/28/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job & Shift Unit Peds ER Unit Type Pediatric Emergency Room Division Nursing Care Setting Acute Shift Length 12 Guaranteed Hours 36 hours per week Years of Experience 2 Years License to Submit Yes BSN Required No Orientation Hours 12 Hours Required Certifications ACLS, BLS, Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Certification, NIHSS - AHA or APEX, PALS Shift Notes Nights, EOW, first to float Additional Details Trauma Level Charting System Cerner Unit Notes Cerner & traveler experience required beds/trauma bays Peds ER has separate waiting room. There is a built-in fast track room off of the lobby. There are 5 (five) rooms in the peds ER and 6 (six) chairs for treatment spaces Do you have a Fast track Ran out of the lobby area Do you have a separate Triage area & do you allow/require travelers to do Triage? 1 triage RN in peds lobby. We allow travelers to do triage after they have completed one assignment with us "Do you have a separate holding area in the ER or are ER holds intermixed w/in the ER? Do ER RN's manage their own ER holds?" No separate area. ER RN's manage their own holds Do you have separate Psych/seclusion rooms? No In-house Security Yes. patients per day "Approx 325 visits per day between both ERs 30,000 peds per year seen in ER" Ratios Peds 1:4, PICU 1:2, procedural sedation 1:1 Required Certifications "Peds ER - BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, ENA ESI Certificate & ENPC or CPEN preferred" Common diagnoses/Types of patients All diagnoses from minor walk-ins to critically ill patients. Respiratory failure, asthma, ABD pain, fractures, substance abuse, some psych holds (maybe 1 per day) Peds ER is a receiving center for pediatrics. Experience or 'Must have' skills "For Peds ER, need to have significant Peds ER experience, not just general experience. Travelers must have similar experience when it comes to the amount of patients seen per day. ED Physicians/Mid-Levels MDs & Midlevels - quick look & fast track ran by midlevels from 11a-1p. Peds ER is staffed by a designated pediatric doctor. Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Charge nurse for all ER Nurse Aids/Paramedics/Patient sitters Use ER techs or CNAs. Have LVNs that run fast track area (RNs work there as well - Peds and Adult fast track) EMR Cerner (FirstNet) (Must have Cerner experience) RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Does RT do ABG's, breathing tx, EKGs? Yes. All staff trained on EKGs. RT in department Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Phillips telemetry. They have a monitor tech for adult side. Working to get additional monitoring for peds X-Ray or CT in the ER? Transport? Some x-ray available in ER, otherwise, all radiology transported to the radiology department Phlebotomy or nurse draw Phlebotomy Shifts & Scheduling 12Hr shifts No block scheduling. Traveler needs to be flexible with the scheduling" Weekend Requirement 4 weekend shifts per month: can be 1 per week or 2 every other week Holiday Requirement Travelers are expected to work holidays unless the holiday lands during contracted time off Is there a call or standby requirement? No Floating Requirements No floating outside of the ER Scrub Color/Dress Code "Navy blue for RN Cranberry for LVN No hoodies/sweatshirts, or sweat jackets" Unit/Department specific orientation 2 shifts on unit, plus meet with ER educator & Quality RN to make sure all education is complete.
