Job Description Charge Nurse Valley Children's is seeking an
experienced Charge Nurse to join an exceptional team of Nurses.
VCH’s Rehab is a CARF-accredited Pediatric Rehabilitation unit,
where we provide specialized long-term care in a compassionate and
healing environment. Our dedicated nurses form meaningful bonds
with patients and families, empowering children to reclaim their
lives and embrace their childhood within their community. As one of
California’s two pediatric CARF-accredited facilities, we take
pride in our diverse interdisciplinary team approach to excellent
patient care. Our team includes board-certified Physiatrist
providers. Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, nurses, therapists
(including pet therapy, RCPs, recreational therapy, PT, OT, and
Speech Therapy), teachers, Social Workers (SW), Case Managers,
hospitalists, Neuropsychology, Psychology, and various
subspecialities. We cater to a wide range of conditions, including
traumatic brain injuries, multiple traumas, trach/vent patients,
spinal cord injuries, stroke, orthopedic conditions, Guillan-Barre,
and other neurologic disorders. Additionally, we offer specialized
care for medical patients admitted to the hospital, leveraging our
team’s exceptional expertise in an interdisciplinary setting. Rehab
is thoughtfully designed to provide a warm and homelike environment
for both patients and families. Our large playroom features 2 TVs
for family entertainment, along with wall cabinets filled with toys
for children to enjoy and embrace their childhood. Additionally, we
offer a spacious kitchen area equipped with 2 ovens and an
industrial-sized fridge/freezer for families to use during their
extended stay, ensuring their child is fully prepared for a smooth
transition back home. Our commitment to patient success is evident
in our focus on providing specialized education to empower patients
to care for themselves before they return home. Thanks to our
comprehensive approach, over 80% of our patients are discharged
back home with their families. To ensure we maintain high
standards, we utilize a national database to track patient
outcomes, with VCH’s Rehab patients showing some of the best
results in the country, particularly in achieving greater
independence after our care. Position Details and Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight of unit during assigned shift - Observe,
evaluate and guide patient care provided by staff - Coordinate
activities of the patient care unit, making staff assignments and
assisting with the development and evaluation of staff members -
Assist with the recruitment and hiring of staff, evaluation of
current staff competency and assessment, coaching, and counseling
assigned staff - This position practices within the scope of the
Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Valley Children's
policies Requirements: - Bachelor's degree required (BSN is
preferred) as well as a valid California RN license - Minimum 2
years full time or equivalent nursing experience with pediatric
experience preferred - One or more years of Charge, Lead or
Supervisory experience preferred - Basic Life Support (BLS) is
required within 30 days of hire or transfer into the position.
Hours, Compensation and Benefits: This is a full time position that
